چکیده

The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) went into meltdown after being hit by a large tsunami caused the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. Measuring and understanding distribution of radioactive contamination inside FDNPS is essential for decommissioning work, reducing exposure to workers, ensuring decontamination. This paper reports visualization tests in Unit 1/2 exhaust stack using compact Compton camera. Fixed-point measurements were conducted only camera moving an integrated radiation imaging system (iRIS) that combines with simultaneous localization mapping device. For measurements, operator carrying iRIS acquires data continuously while walking passage near stack. With both types high-intensity was detected at base stack, detailed three-dimensional (3D) obtained from measurement. fixed-point estimated source intensity reconstructed image acquired Furthermore, workers can experience work environment before actual importing 3D structure model virtual reality displaying image.

Radiation Dose Reduction Efficiency of Buildings after the Accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

Numerous radionuclides were released from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (F1-NPS) in Japan following the magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. Local residents have been eager to calculate their individual radiation exposure. Thus, absorbed dose rates in the indoor and outdoor air at evacuation sites in the Fukushima Prefecture were measured using a gamma-ray measu...

Fukushima daiichi nuclear accident and radiation exposure.

We consider that the Great East Japan Earthquake was a combined disaster involving earthquake and tsunami as well as the release of radioactive materials into the environment (Fig. 1). Something I would like you to notice here is that among various disasters, a radiation nuclear disaster cannot be seen; it cannot be felt; in fact it cannot be detected without special devices. Because of that, t...

Assessment of radiation doses to the public in areas contaminated by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident

In the areas contaminated by radioactive materials due to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident, many residents are exposed to radiation through various exposure pathways. Dose assessment is important for providing appropriate protection to the people and clarifying the impact of the accident. The aim of this study is to provide preliminary results of the assessment of radiation ...

Current Situation and Challenges at Fukushima: Hands-on Measurements of Radiation Contamination after Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident

An oceanographic investigation within 1.0km radius of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (FDNPP) was carried out in September 2013, independent of the Government of Japan. Samples of seawater and seafloor sand were collected near the sewage outlets and in front of the harbor at the FDNPP. The level of seawater radioactivity did not show evidence of immediate harm to the health of the people....

Minimal Internal Radiation Exposure in Residents Living South of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Disaster

Following the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, assessment of internal radiation exposure was indispensable to predict radiation-related health threats to residents of neighboring areas. Although many evaluations of internal radiation in residents living north and west of the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant are available, there is little information on residents living in areas sou...
